Throughout this project I have been looking at a few artists which have inspired me and has helped me develop my own drawing. Someone I have been looking at Sarah Anderson who creates autobiographical comics which in my opinion are very funny.
I really like that she doesn’t use colour or only uses little colour, even though she only uses black it works well. Something I like and have taken inspiration from is how she uses speech bubbles. I like how she doesn’t incapsulate the whole words. I have tried this in my webcomic by just having a background colour and nit adding a outline. I think this works well in my comic as I have gone for a more minimal look to my work.
I have also looked at Kate Beaton‘s work which I really like as she’s uses a ,lot of traditional media when creating her comics. Even though I have worked digitally on my webcomic I would usually work more traditionally, but I wanted to try something I wasn’t as confident in.
I really enjoy how her lines ain’t perfectly straight her lines have more movement and it brings more life to the drawing . I like that her use of grey tone isn’t perfect you can see the streaks from the markers and it works for the comic. Next time I want to maybe focus more on traditional media as I really enjoy working this way and maybe try using makers in the future.
